Spurs Fan - Mac McGolpin
Hi All,
Sad news. Mac passed away last night at Queen Elizabeth Hotspital. Here's the email message from his daughter :
Dear HK Friends,
Our Dad, Mac, passed away last night at 11.40pm local time at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. Although he has been through so much over the last 16 months when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour, we were reassured that he was feeling no pain at the end and he was able to pass away peacefully and with us and Yolanda with him on his last day. It's a great consolation to us that we have been able to spend some time with him here in Hong Kong over the last week and to receive so much support and warm wishes from many of his friends here.
Dad had been fighting a Grade 4 brain tumour since the diagnosis and 1st operation in the UK last May. He had a 2nd operation in June this year and was never able to recover fully from it. He caught pneumonia soon after and parts of his body started to shut down. Dad fought long and hard, but it is now time for him to rest.
He will be cremated in Hong Kong in a week or possibly two and his ashes will be flown back to the UK and laid with those of his mother and father in Enfield Crematorium, London.
We appreciate the love and support you have all shown Dad. We know he thought and spoke so highly of each of you. We will be having a quiet drink in Delaney's in Wan chai Wednesday evening at around 8pm for those of you who wish to join and raise a glass to Mac. We return to the UK on Thursday morning.
Warmest wishes to you all,
Kelly, Dan and Chantelle

Sad news for the SpursHK community. Henry and I were able to pay Mac a visit last week. He was sedated at the time with the med, we played an audio clip to him, courtesy of Daniel Wynne (the announcer at WHL) to cheer him on. I was hoping he would recover this week but it wasn't to be. RIP Mac and you will be in my prayers. COYS!!

This coming Saturday during the Tottenham v Norwich game, we will place an empty chair near the front of the screen in honour to the departed Spurs fan Mac McGolpin.
If you have a Spurs scarf, please bring it down and tie it to the chair to honour a lost Spurs fan.
We will also place a collection box in the middle of the chair - funds to be used to buy a nice reef for his funeral service (details of the funeral to be announced later).

Very Sad
Just heard this news, Mac was a great guy have fond memories of playing football with him in a couple of friendlies & a 7 aside tournament with a few of the other regular Wanchai lads.
Always an avid Spurs man' how he would have enjoyed seeing the continued evolution of our beloved Spurs !
Rest in Peace Mac

Mac's funeral service details confirmed and as follows. Any Spurs fans wishing to attend, let me know, as I will be going there as well :
For those who wish to attend Mac's funeral service and cremation, it will take place at 2.30 pm on Friday, 4 October, at Cape Collinson Crematorium in Chai Wan.
It will last about 10-15 minutes and will be led by someone from St John's Cathedral.
They have been asked to get there half an hour in advance, so perhaps we could arrange to meet at Chai Wan MTR at around 1.45 pm to share a taxi from there to the crematorium? There are also a couple of buses, the 388 and 389, that go from near the station to the crematorium.
I don't think there are any concrete plans for afterwards, but there is talk of going to Delaney's or the White Stag to raise a couple of glasses to Mac.
There will also be a service later in October at Enfield Crematorium in London, I can pass on contact details if you would like to get in touch with Mac's family about attending that.
