I remember that in 2010 we had a great run in the CL (a lot of that down to Bale though) and it just felt that this was the right place for us to be in terms of top level football competition. We missed out the following year on the CL because Chelsea won the CL and the year after that missing out because the Gooners finished strong and knicked the spot by a point.
With the current squad boosted with new and quality plarers, I would love to see all efforst put into a serious finish come May 2014 with Spurs finishing in the top 3 and getting us back into Europe's premier competition.
With the spending of aroun 50 million and possibly NOT selling Bale, failure to qualify to the CL next year is probably NOT an option. I hear that Joe Lewis had directed to simpy spend, spend and spend to achieve this goal for next year.

We have to start winning domestic cups and Europa leagues as part of our progression to bigger things. We didnt quality for CL - we weren't good enough. We did qualify for Europa.
Yes it's lost it's prestige due to the amount of games etc. But it's still a major trophy.
Apart from the League cup, most of our players haven't won any silverware at spurs. This needs to change. A trophy, whether the FA cup, League Cup, Europa or dare I say it, the Premier League, would be most welcome.
It's more a case of us not being good enough for CL ( yet) than being too good for Europa.

Mmm? Not sure if I entirely agree that we're not good enough.
We played well in the competition in 2010 after qualifying properly. We essentially qualified the following year (finihsed 4th) but the English Premiership lost a place because an English club won the CL trophy and had the right to defend it (that club being Chelsea who didn't qualify anywhere near on a league position but still got to play in the CL). Last season we narrowly missed out by a point, but never the less, our highest points finish.
I would say we were good enough (or there abouts) and this year with all these new players, we should be very much good enough - on paper at least for now!
