We couldn't replace Gazza after we received 5.5M in 1992, could we?

Personally, I'm sick of the whole Summer Saga that always seems to involve Spurs.
Bale is a great player, but apart from the last half of last season, he's not played to his full potential. AVB has brought out the best in him by giving him a free role.

If he goes, he goes. We have enough quality in the squad to prove to people that we're not a one man team. Paulinhno, Chadli are already signed up. More to come. I'm optimistic about next season, with or without Bale.

I just wish they'd hurry up and get it over with already.

I don't think summer transfer sagas are unique to Spurs. There are plenty of on-going rumours, it's just the Bale saga involves the most money. Suarez possible move to Arsenal and Fabregas to United are becoming long drawn out negotiations.

I'm fairly relaxed about the whole thing because of the size of the fee involved if he is granted a transfer.

players come and players go...nowadays loyalty and passion ranks behind financial stability and "dreams"...what used to be playing with passion and love for the club has been become a job which rewards according to your level of performance...not much different from any other jobs...we have colleagues that performs and eventually joining rival firms at higher salary and better packages...it is a circle of life...we have heard performing companies being bought by conglomerates...

if bale leaves then there will be space for others to grow...the thinking that "we will never get another bale' is the same as we will never get another hoddle or gazza or king or other legends and great...we will unearth another "someone" and maybe the timing will be just right as this someone or others will lead us to top 4 or better and CL success...

looking at the past...what if we had beaten rmadrid in the CL then and went on to take the trophy...we would have the resources to add more players and it could have been a whole different scenario...but that was then...now is now

bale's transfer must be decided as soon as possible...it will enable us time to further strenghten our team with players that believes in the ambition of the club...players such as vertonghen and paulinho knew we aren't in the CL and yet they joined for the future and not for the present

rmadrid has not won or featured in the CL finals since they won it in the year 2001-02...they have tried almost everything...not even cr or jm could do it...now they hope bale could do it for them...personally i wished bale the best but i wished spurs better

It's now leaning the other way.

Seems if there's a good chance that the talks on Bale moving to Real Madrid will break down for good. Have a read here ....

the challenge is that whether Bale will have the motivation to play or worse, would be on strike. Personally I dont buy the loyalty argument as it works in both ways and at the end of the day, it is just a job for players .I dont blame him asking for transfer but I only have problem if he refuse to play or delibertely play bad...To me, anything more than 70M would be fine ..

Bale is under contract and he doesn't get to make the decision on whether he leaves or not. He can make a request, a sulk, use the media to wash his laundry etc., but the sale of a player under contract is down to whether the club wants to move in that area.

I think Levy has been playing a good game from day one and would only of sold Bale if there was a ariddiculously good deal on the table. 85 odd million on it's own may not of been a good enough deal, but a player (like Morata) plus that may of been good enough. Also, it seems like Real Madrid don't have the cash.

Two important things have come to light recently (if true). Real Madrid don't have upwards of 85 million on hand. And there has been no formal offer made to-date.

As for Bale, sure he can sulk if a deal doesn't happen but that would not stabilise or increase his value for a future sale. I think it's way overdue for football clubs to put their foot down with football players. They are never bigger than the club that they play for.

I agree with our stance on Bale and full credit to Levy doing this. My only concern is that if we price out of Bale move , then we have to find a way to ensure Bale performing to the best of his ability and not poisoning the dressing room...I know it sounds ridiculous that we have to motivate a guy who are paid 70000 per week...but the fact is he is human being and his performance may be impacted, whether we like it or not..Manure did brilliantly for Ronaldo as they pursuade  him to stay one more season before allowing him to move to Madrid...Can we use the same approach on him? ..
